Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday congratulated President-elect and Vice President-elect Joe Biden and kamala Harris for their Nov. 3 electoral victory. Putin had held back his congratulations immediately after the election was called for the Biden/Harris ticket saying there are still ongoing litigations by the Trump administration and that he would wait to see the outcome. He stated in November, “We are just waiting for the end of the internal political confrontation.”

His congratulations came on the heels of the Electoral College rectification of the elections that all but sealed the win for Biden and Harris. Putin wishes Biden and Harris “every success” in their presidential duties and stated “Russia and the U.S., which bear special responsibility for global security and stability can, despite the differences, really contribute to solving many problems and challenges that the world is currently facing.”
